About Art Textile Department

At Art Textile department students work with a wide range of materials and techniques present in the curricula tasks. The following techniques are being studied: all types of traditional weaving (heald, carpet, tapestry), traditional and innovative techniques of fabrics dyeing and painting (printing, shibori, batik, free painting), other methods of fabrics decoration (computer printing - print, patchwork, quilting, needle technique, collage), as well as “fiber art” types (adhesive technology, felting).
The main areas and topics the students work in are the following: study of the fundamentals of composition (graphic formats, textile applique, textile relief)design of decorative and applied goods (napkins, towels, textile bags, scarves, shawls, fabrics for clothing, tapestries, panels); creation of plastics for textile (volumetric and spatial composition). The chair provides mastery of computer graphics from the first year, which allows students to expand the traditional means of graphic development of course papers and diploma projects.
